The capitol of East Java, Bandung is not to be missed. Nicknamed “The Paris of Java” by the Dutch and later called “The Flower City” for its abundance of flora; Bandung is a beautiful city, known for its relatively cold weather and a variety of sites to see and places to visit. The factory outlets in Bandung are nothing like those you see on the outskirts of large American towns. These are actually outlets for actual factories. Bandung is a perfect place for the serious bargain hunter as it is one of the few places in Southeast Asia to find genuine designer clothes at discount rates. They also tend to have more “western friendly” sizes. Be aware that while many stores do carry legitimate outlet items at rock bottom prices some will inevitability be knock offs as well. A good sign it is genuine is if you see the original price in US Dollars on the tag. If you are in doubt, simply try it on. It fits and feels right then go for it! For many traveling to Java conjures up images of bubbling volcanoes and massive craters. While at Tangkuban Parahu, these imaginary images come to life. Tangkuban Parahu gives visitors the opportunity to see an active smoking volcano within a massive crater just minutes from their car. One of the first things you will notice is the smell of sulfur. If you want to get closer to the action there are two other craters within hiking distance, including Kawah Domas which offers a hot springs. Visitors to Kawah Domas claim dipping your feet into these waters will increase the smoothness of your skin.
